2009 Disabled Indoor Air Rifle Sectional Championships

Please allow me to introduce myself, my name is Vanessa Warner and I am the Manager of Disabled Shooting Services at the National Rifle Association.

I am writing to you to announce the creation of the 2009 Disabled Indoor Air Rifle Sectional Championships, which will be held a various clubs around the country between the dates of January 15 and March 30.

The NRA National Disabled Indoor Air Rifle Sectional Championships give competitors with physical disabilities a chance to compete in national individual and team events by comparing their scores with those fired in clubs all over the country. Scores are compatible because of the similar conditions existing in indoor ranges.

Currently we have four matches that have been sanctioned:

January 31, 2009 - Lakeshore Foundation, Birmingham, AL
February 14, 2009 – Fresno Wheelchair Shooting Championships, Fresno, CA

March 19, 2009 – Hillside Rehabilitation Hospital, Vienna, OH
March 20, 2009 – Cleveland 600, Vienna, OH (Hillside and Cleveland are run in conjunction with each other)

There is a small fee of $7.50 per competitor payable to the NRA. This fee is paid to the NRA at the conclusion of the match and helps to offset the NRA’s cost of Medals, participation pins and award points.

Competitors will also have the option of having their individual scores count toward a three-person team as well. Teams are declared prior to shooting individual matches and the competitors’ individual scores will be applied to their team. The fee payable to the NRA is $7.50 per team.

Awards will be given at the sectional level for individual first, second and third place and for the top scoring team and at the national level for first, second and third place overall.

Please contact me to send you a cover letter, application and program guidelines for any organization that would be interested in hosting/sponsoring a match. Please feel free to forward this to any organization you feel might be interested in hosting a match.

Although we have four matches scheduled, our goal is 10. I am hoping that by contacting you, word will spread and we will achieve our goal.

If your organization is interested in hosting a match, please feel free to contact me and I will be happy to discuss any issues or concerns you may have.

Thank you for your time and cooperation.

Yours Truly,

Vanessa Warner
