Chapter history

PVA was originally formed in 1946, the Paralyzed  Veterans of America Arizona Chapter was incorporated in Arizona in 1967. The PVA and its Chapters were chartered by the United States Congress in 1971. This Charter entitles the APVA to specific rights and responsibilities that we take very seriously and enable us to serve our Veterans daily. Read more about the specific ways in which our Arizona Chapter can benefit you.  The  Paralyzed Veterans of America Arizona Chapter is a 501 (c) 3 Non-Profit  Organization

Our Mission

The Paralyzed Veterans of America Arizona Chapter champions and honors veterans of the United States of America by taking action to improve the lives of U.S. military Veterans and all who have experienced  Spinal Cord Injury, Disease/Dysfunction, and Disability. We do this through advocacy for proper health care, improving public accessibility,  communication, education, and the promotion of activities and sports.  Together we are effective partners for life; ensuring each Veteran receives full benefits earned through their service to our nation.

History

Many people don’t realize the extent of PVA history; we are one of the original Veteran Organizations with deep roots connected to many of the current bills, legislation, and advocacy that support Veterans with disabilities, non-service disabled, disabled civilians and those with spinal cord injury. Following WWII, Veterans came together in search of answers and a better quality of life for themselves and others.

The links below provide an insight to the journey of these founding father Veterans and a better understanding of the milestones they achieved that still impact us today. PVA was the first Veterans organization to fight for Veterans with disabilities- and win. And we’re not done yet.
